In February 2022, the leaders of Russia and China announced their intention to build a new world order more in line with their interests and less dominated by the West. Is this the beginning of a new Cold War or are we moving towards a multipolar system with multiple centres of power? Alternatively, one could also argue that Russia’s setbacks in Ukraine and China’s failed COVID-19 policy mean that the United States will remain the sole superpower for the foreseeable future.
