Panel Discussion: The Confluence of the Indo-Pacific and Europe
At the Australian Embassy in Vienna, Velina argued for tighter EU–Indo-Pacific coordination linking diplomacy, defense readiness, and economic statecraft.
Velina Tchakarova joined the Australian Embassy in Vienna and the Vienna School of International Studies for a high-level panel comparing Australian and Austrian perspectives on the Indo-Pacific–Europe nexus. Alongside Prof. Michael Wesley, Dr. Matthew Sussex, and Dr. Thomas S. Eder, she outlined how maritime security, critical minerals, supply-chain resilience, and tech-standards competition are binding the two regions together. Velina argued for tighter EU–Indo-Pacific coordination — linking diplomacy, defense readiness, and economic statecraft — to uphold rules and build strategic resilience. The discussion was moderated by Amb. Bernhard Zimburg and hosted by Martina Schubert.
